My father's parents:  Richard Lee and Fannie Collier Clemens.

Chester Lee and George Russell Clemens, sons of Richard Lee and Fannie Collier Clemens

Picture

Chester Lee and Ida Stevens Clemens, my parents.  They were two young kids from Lawton, Carter, Kentucky who went to the neighboring Rowan County to get married.  On the day they were to marry, Chester was working on the car and battery acid splashed into his eyes.  He rinsed them out, but they continued to "water" all day.  The Justice of the Peace kept reassuring him that it really wasn't going to be that bad...

Picture

Chester Lee Clemens as a baby.  It was not uncommon for babies of both sexes to wear little dresses.
