A BLESSING GIVEN BY HYRUM G. SMITH, Patriarch, UPON THE HEAD OF

NELLIE RHODES NICKLE

Daughter of Bartlett Rhodes and Susanna (Oakley) Rhodes.  Born July 2, 1875 at Toledo, Ohio

SISTER NELLIE R. NICKLE:  According to thy desire I place my hands upon thy head and give unto thee thy Patriarchal Blessing which I pray the Lord to direct that it may be a guide, a comfort and a benefit unto thee throughout this life because of thy faithfulness.

Thou art of the lineage of Ephraim who was the chosen son of Joseph who was sold into Egypt.  And thou art numbered among those whom the Lord loveth.  Therefore, keep thy trust in the Giver of thy blessings and thou shalt be further spared and remembered to enjoy thy powers of usefulness, and to enjoy the fruits of thy laborss [sic] as a teacher, as an exemplar, and as a defender of the truth for the blessings of the Lord will be upon thee and upon thy labors for good and thou shalt rejoice in the preserving, protecting and providing care of the Lord even to live and fulfil [sic] the full measure of thy creation upon the earth.

Continue, therefore, to observe the laws of nature and the words of wisdom which have been taught unto thee and honor the Giver of thy blessings, that thou shalt be further comforted in the answer to thy prayers and the fruits of thy labors.  Thou shalt be remembered in mercy for thy faith shall increase and prevail for good with the Lord.  Thou shalt have power to overcome doubt and the spirit of gloominess which is the trick of the adversary and the barrier to progress and the blessings of the Lord.  Therefore, be cheerful, patient, and humble and acknowledge the hand of the Lord in his kindness unto thee, and thou shalt be strengthened in body and in mind and shall be guided in the way of safety and success and shall enjoy ther [sic] of thy hands in thy effort to bless and comfort others.  Folr [sic] many will look unto thee with blessings upon thy head because pf [sic] thy deeds of kindness and thy workds [sic] of charity.  And for all of thy laborss [sic] to help and serve others the Lord will abundantly reward thee both in this life and in the life to come.

It will be thy privilege also to labor for those who are unable to labor for themselves.  both the living and the dead and in this important ministry thy heart shall greatly rejoice.  Therefore, go forth with a renewed determination to continue thy efforts for good in the service of the Lord and thy life will be spared in usefulness to live and fulfil [sic] thy mission in honor.

I seal these blessings upon thy head and through thy faithfulness and seal thee up to come forth in the morning of the first resurrection, crowned with thy blessings among thy kindred and loved ones, by virtue of the Holy Priesthood and in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
